Interventional Radiology (or IR) is a method for identifying and treating illnesses like cancer without requiring extensive surgery. With IR, your doctor uses imaging tests like ultrasounds, CT scans, or MRIs to see inside your body. Then, they perform an operation or administer treatment where it is needed by using tiny equipment like tubes and needles. Your doctor can insert tools into your body during these procedures through tiny incisions that may be no larger than a pinhole.

An Interventional Radiologist is a licensed physician who has successfully completed a residency program in interventional radiology. The American Board of Radiology's board test can thereafter be taken by the candidate. The interventional radiologist then completes a fellowship-training course of study. These specialists collaborate closely with other medical professionals and are crucial members of the care team.

MIC Imaging and Procedure Center has unveiled a new state-of-the art facility located in Omaha, NE at the convenient location of 120th and Center. A grand opening ceremony will be taking place in October 2024. MIC has relocated their services previously located in La Vista, as space was needed for expansion! The new imaging center is boasting some of the latest technical advancements for Mammography, Ultrasound, DEXA, CT, MRI, X-ray and an Interventional Radiology Suite.
